Setting the Benchmark for Reliability

Cutting-Edge CNC Capabilities

CNC Turning

We have a mixture of fixed-head and sliding-head lathes, enabling us to meet a wide variety of customer part requirements. We are well known in the industry for our ability to produce complex parts for a number of sectors.

It is the combination of the range of our machinery and knowledge which enables us to do this – our employees are very adept at problem-solving new parts, not much phases them!

In addition to a pure turning center, some of our lathes have live tooling capability – this means that we can put machine-milled features directly onto the turned component, eliminating the need to transfer to a separate milling machine.

This can significantly reduce part costs for our customers. Working closely with our customers, we can provide one-off prototype parts if required, through to production batches.

CNC Turning Machines

CNC turning is a vital process in modern manufacturing, offering high levels of precision and efficiency. Our facilities feature both pure turning centres and lathes with live tooling capability.

This innovative live tooling allows us to machine milled features directly onto turned components, eliminating the need for a separate milling process and significantly reducing overall part costs for our customers.

Our range of CNC turning machines includes:

  • 65mm Bar Capacity – 240mm Diameter Billet

  • SMEC DUGARD LATHE

  • SMEC DUGARD LATHE with Sub Spindle

  • EAGLE 10 LATHE

CNC Turning FAQ’s

A: CNC Turning is a subtractive manufacturing process where a computer-controlled lathe rotates the workpiece while a stationary cutting tool removes material.

This method is ideal for creating cylindrical or conical parts and is widely used in industries that require precision components.

A: In CNC Turning, the workpiece spins while the cutting tool remains stationary (or moves linearly), making it especially suited for round or tubular parts.

In CNC Milling, the cutting tool rotates and moves around a stationary workpiece, allowing for more complex, multi-axis geometries.

Many manufacturing projects use both processes for different component features.

A: A wide variety of materials can be machined on a CNC lathe, including metals (aluminium, steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, titanium), plastics, and certain composites.

The choice of material depends on your project’s requirements, such as strength, weight, heat resistance, or conductivity.

A: Key advantages include:

  • High Precision: Ideal for achieving tight tolerances on round parts.

  • Efficiency: Automated processes reduce production time and labour costs.

  • Versatility: Capable of handling different materials and part complexities.

  • Consistency: Computer control ensures uniform quality across large batches.

A: Look for a company with:

  • Proven Expertise: Experience handling the materials and tolerances you need.

  • Modern Equipment: Up-to-date CNC lathes and live tooling capabilities.

  • Quality Assurance: Certifications like ISO 9001:2015 and robust inspection processes.

  • Strong Communication: Transparent quotes, clear timelines, and technical support.
